Blog Post One: What Is This?
When you first start a blog on Squarespace, they offer you a template. It’s a good way to learn the structure, the breaks, and some other general ideas of just what on earth do you do with this blank wall you have to fill. To start, it offers this:
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
A simple, bold call to authenticity.
For a long time, I’ve known that general social media isn’t going to be the best way for me to connect with my audience because when I decide to say something, I want to be understood. If I take a side on a hot topic, I want my audience to know why I took that position. I’m that girl who can’t answer your simple first date questions like “what’s your favorite movie” without using excessive qualifiers and telling you my top five across genres.
This likely wont be the most informative SW blog you’ll encounter. I’m not an expert in marketing or lifestyle. I likely won’t convince you to part with your money to teach you how to convert fans to clients. Truly the only thing that I’m an expert in is me. My goal for this blog is simply to let you see a little bit more of what I consider to be the most valuable part of me: my thoughts.
